Ravensdaughter - The Lailly Worm ♫
(traditional)
'The Lailly Worm' is a traditional song, listed as number 36 in Vol 1 of the English and Scottish
Popular Ballads (1882-1989) collection by Francis James Child. Its full title is 'The Lailly Worm
and the Mackerel of the Sea' and the song tells a story that is so bizarre that it leaves you
asking so many questions when you listen to it. Only a traditional song could get away with
such weirdness and it is one of the reasons why traditional music is so fascinating.
