Work in progress
Phase 4 – The gigging years (1981–1986), part 1
A decision was taken that another instrumentalist was needed to take the band to
the next level of performance, and advertisements were put in the folk music magazines.
In July 1981 Mick Bailey (harmonium/whistle) joined the band and in October Janet
Land (fiddle) joined. This line-up only lasted until February 1982 as Mick decided he
had to leave because of his unpredictable work commitments.
With Janet in the line-up the number of gigs started to increase dramatically and with
this experience the standard of performance rose. In June 1984 the band played at the
English Folk Dance and Song Society's Folk Day in the Covent Garden piazza. Janet
played in a number of bands and in June 1984 she decided to leave because of her
increasing other musical commitments.
