Long Last

Our first album demonstrates why Childe Rolande have been described as a 'medieval folk-rock' band. A number of the traditional instruments will be unfamiliar to many listeners, particularly as they are combined with electric bass and keyboards. The lyrics tell stories from the 15th century onwards; some even hint at a dark pagan past.

The album includes unaccompanied close harmony vocals ('When Winter Walks'), which have become something of a trademark of the band, as well as purely instrumental arrangements.

The material, with the exception of 'Sovay' and 'Lagan Love', is original, and reflects the songs being performed live at the time.

Long Last was recorded in 1990 in our Salamonjay Studios in London. Though originally released on cassette and sold direct by mail order, the album became available on CD in 2006.

The track notes are by John.
