Another shanty that I came across in Stan Hugill’s book Shanties from the Seven Seas. A notorious song, the words of which he had to tone down and which I’ve toned down a bit more and added a couple of verses of my own to make up the shortfall. I’ve also changed the structure so that the two verse lines are run together and the responses run together afterwards. So not a true working shanty any more but I think it works better for a concert performance.
