The name of 'Royal Oak' appears to have been an accidental inclusion as other versions of the song name the ship as 'The Marigold' and the Captain variously Captain Sir Thomas Merrifield or Captain Michael Mansfield, both of Bristol town.   All text, images and music samples on this site are copyright © Childe Rolande.
